A few veggies from my garden. I don't really like to eat eggplant, but I love to look at it!

"Before", Dec. 2001. I dieted to squeeeeeze into the dress. Well, at least my hair looked cute!

"After"-- October 2005, about 130 lbs.

I was overweight my whole life, except for one week when I was three. (My mom took a picture.) From chubby baby I went to pudgy child, chunky teen, and fat adult. I was overweight my whole life, except for one week when I was three. (My mom took a picture.) From chubby baby I went to pudgy child, chunky teen, and fat adult. About 5 years ago I started driving more and my weight skyrocketed. When I realized that I was not only too big for my old clothes, but couldn't even find new ones in my size, I had to face facts. I wasn't "plump," I was obese. I'd heard that losing 5% of your weight would lower your risk of diabetes, so I Googled "calorie counting software," downloaded a couple of programs, and set out to lose 9 pounds. When I learned how many calories I really needed to eat and how many calories were really in my food, the weight started dropping. I lost my 9 pounds, so I decided to lose 8 more, then 7 more, and without really meaning to, I reached a "normal" BMI. That's where I've been for the last 3 years, right at the top of the "healthy" range for my height. I'd like to lose a few more pounds as a "safety margin," but I'm not too worried about it.

My Goals:
I was focused just on maintaining, but re-gained a little bit over the past 4-5 years. As of May of 2011, I'm on a drive to take off what I gained AND keep going to take off the last 7-10 pounds I never did lose the first time. All in all, I'm aiming to lose 15-20 pounds over the next 6 months to a year.

Update for the New Year 2012: Um.... I guess the update is that there's no update. :( I still need to get rid of those 15 pounds that somehow sneaked back on when I wasn't looking! Oh, well. New Year's Resolution time!

My Program:
Calories in versus calories out. I've logged everything, every day, for just a bit more than 4 years. I walk a lot, run a little, ride a bike now and then, and drive as little as possible so I can burn calories and save money all at once!

Judging from your status update, you have issue with dessert too, eh? It was one of those perfectly portioned small cakes I did suggest. His lordship thinks it's not a birthday party if there's not homemade cake and candles! I thought when you hit 60 you got to do what you want! Dayum!

Thanks for the answer on the breast fat transfer question. I did not think about some of the things you informed me of. Appreciate it.

That's interesting what you posted in the other blog about breakfast. I didn't realize that the article was pushing that as some kind of a diet in and of itself. I didn't read the book and had no intention of getting it, so I'm glad you had heard about it from other people. And I agree 100% with what you said. Skipping breakfast does work for me. I don't often do it because I get up at 6:30 with his lordship, get his lunch packed, and breakfast on the table, and it seems rude not to eat with him. LOL But the difference on those days (always on Saturdays) when I CAN wait till closer to noon to is nearly palpable to me (though my diabetes doc says it's a no-no...). Those days I just don't even think about food.

I find that procrastination and food snobbery are a powerful combination!

Omg! I laughed right out loud when I read that. Procrastination I have down to a fine science, and I've never had the nerve to be a snob! LOL Maybe I'll hit Captain Amy up and see if she will join the ranks. She's no where NEAR as SOCIAL as me. LOL It ought to be easy for her. Plus she has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. Thanks, I needed that! Calen~

Loved the part that some grain has been found before in a few neanderthawl teeth :) I added you as a sparkfriend hope that is ok! My name is Jenny and im trying to lose about 5o pounds
