A Place to Gripe

I like typing better than writing, so I'm going to put things here.

I am a mother of two (Hannah and Tim). I'm a software engineer at IBM, trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I enjoy doing engineering days with kids (such as National Engineers Week) because I want to inspire more girls to try engineering. My thinking is that if they see a real, live female engineer, they might be more willing to try it out.

I enjoy martial arts, road biking, ...

Thanks, Annette. I agree about the yoga. It's pretty harsh, and difficult for me with feet issues, but I have managed the first 20 minutes the first go round, and will aim to increase my time. I think we're not alone: I hear a lot of gripes about that one disc amid raves about all the others.

I know it wouldn't change his mind... "for me" my point is, I can't be who I really am, the religious get to be who they are... It's kind of like being in the closet, not wanting to 'come out'... because you know what will happen.


For the first time in 20 years I started seeing a guy, three months in when it slowly and gently became obvious I was not a believer in the g-d of the bible, he stopped calling... I'm not shocked, nor hurt... but it's weird...

Are you sure it's because you like him, and not the thought of being dropped like a rock hurts, especially for the simply proclaiming a thought/belief that differs from his?

I don't have it on my facebook page either... I would be instantly un-friended by all except my IMMEDIATE family... my aunts, cousins, in-laws everyone but my children would drop me, my children would probably make sure no one they are friends with could see my page.

The FB page is to keep family interested/involved with Christian. So they won't be so shocked or put off when they see him again. He's as big or bigger then they are now (he will be no less then 6'4 or 5" when full grown) and still acts the same as he did when he was 4 years old.

I think it was almost cruel that my blinders were removed in my FIFTIES! But I'm still glad they were....
