I am now in the 60's and starting eating for the wrong reasons in my teens. My weight issues were made worse by gaining a lot of weight during my pregnancies. The doctor told me that during pregnancy you can multiply fat cells and they will want to be filled up the rest of your life. I believe him now more than then! So I have lost weight up and down several times in all these years. Each time I am embarrased about gaining it back. So here I am again just trying to be healthy. I am tired of hearing that obesity can cause every ailment under the sun and knowing that means me. I need to be healthy to live a life where I can do the things I enjoy. I have been jailed in this body. My only hope is that when I lose the weight, my body will still be there for me.
My biggest challenge is a job that is very stressful and long hours during several months of the year. My pattern has been to get healthy during the normal times and to gain it back during the stressful times. I really can't change jobs now.
In so many ways I am lucky; I have a lot to be thankful for. I am thankful for finding this site. It is amazing.
