Keeping it OFF!

I have lost 70 lbs. I have reached my goal!
I am in "normal" BMI finally!!
As of 4/6/11
I have set a new goal for my "leeway" pounds.

Now in 'maintenance' mode.

My ticker is now set for maintenance as well. My goal of 149 lbs. is now the highest end for me.

Feeling so much more energy. I have bad knees and an ankle full of pins but I love to walk/jog and am going further and faster each day.

I'm eating 'real' food ...

I'm eating 'real' food 1250-1500 a day.

I know this is a lifestyle that will last for the rest of my days. No more excuses~ depression, grief, aches and pains, NO excuses. because now I know I CAN and will be healthy and active.

It took my husbands near death from heart failure and lung disease and taking care of him to make me take a good look at my own health. Something inside of me woke up and I'm so grateful for that.

I honestly love this lifestyle change! It's not a grueling diet it's a body and mind transformation and there is NO going back, not ever!!

update: Husband is now healthy! Eating cleaner and walking regularly with me! I'm proud that my influence is inspiring my family and friends!

I eat clean whole foods as much as possible, cut out processed and fast food. Got rid of stuff like flour, sugar white rice. I eat fresh fruit and veggies. I prefer clean, ethically raised meat, free from harmful chemicals and added ingredients whenever I can.

I drink lots of water and green tea. Cut way back on alcohol and calorie laden drinks.

Stay within calorie range and chart food eaten daily.

Exercise 3-6 days a week start out 10-15 min. and add on minutes as you get stronger.
I do brisk walking I started with 1 block and am now up to 3 to 5 miles daily.
I also do free weights to tone.

I try to eat lots of protein and carbs come from fruits and veggies mostly.
Pack a cooler if you are out and about with healthy choices. You don't want to become famished and eat fast food or be tempted by a vending machine or plate of donuts!

Don't forget to reward yourself! Reward with non food things for each milestone! Buy a new outfit or get a manicure, get a massage! I found that for every 10 lbs. I lost a size! So new jeans were my reward.

Read all the SP articles! They teach you how to order in restaurants, and where the hidden dangers are, and shatter myths. So much to be learned about healthy, power foods that can make you feel younger and stronger.

I highly recommend "The SPARK" great book. Also "Eat Clean Diet" by Tosca Reno, "Wheat Belly" by Dr. Davis, "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes, "The End of Overeating" by David Kessler M.D. and I'm still reading many more!

Post often, make friends with like goals, share ideas and recipes. I found charting my food to be the BEST thing I could do for my weight loss!
welcome to SparkPeople! You've come to the right place!

I was chuckling as I thought your comment was meant for another blog post, but not a problem. emoticon
For the ice cream we use as much cream as we can, the rest milk, some Xylitol, about 2 tbsp. per quart of milk/cream and then add any flavor, like vanilla, cinnamon, coconut flakes, nuts, berries etc. to taste. Very simple, just play around with it.
We use one of the ice cream makers where you put the empty double-walled bowl in the freezer for 8 hours and then put it on the machine and add ingredients and have ice cream 15-20 minutes later. I love it!

It's so nice to know someone who has had a chinchilla live this long. We love ours! It sounds like we have a lot in common!!
