I've been in good shape most of my life, but since starting a doctoral program in my forties, I've begun to gain weight. I need to get back in shape and finished by doctorate.

My Goals:
My main goal is to lose about 40 pounds, while gaining some muscle through weight training. I want to bike more, and use a car less. I'd like to run in some 5K races, and maybe after I finish the dissertation to run in a half marathon.
My Program:
I'm cutting down on portion sizes. I'm eating fewer peanuts; I used to snack a lot on peanuts. I'm running 20 minutes on a treadmill 4 days a week and lifting weights on those days. I try to walk or bike to do errands that are within a mile or two.
Personal Information:
I'm originally from Ohio and I now live in Virginia. I spent 20 years in Africa.
