Health & a Ph.D. go hand-in-hand

As I work through the dissertation phase of my Ph.D. program, I've committed to get fit. Exercising serves as a great alternative to spending time writing, and controlling my diet counteracts all of the time spent sitting at the laptop.

To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.

I love your new "action" photo! It shows you achieving a goal, and what could be better than that?

And it's one hell of a lot more flattering than a picture sitting on the couch with a hand in the bag of chips. . . emoticon

Thanks so much for your thoughtful note on Saturday!

I ran my first 5k in over a year. I have been fighting a cold/allergies the past few weeks. About half way through I thought of your blog from the end of your C25k journey. I had to keep stopping and blowing my nose.

It wasn't a great time, but it was nice to get back out there and run.

I realized how much a couple of weeks can impact my running. I am thinking I am going to go back to Week 5 of the C25k program to pick up my distance again.

How is your running going?
