You don't stop running because you are getting older... You get older because you stop running.

A Run begins the MOMENT you forget you are Running! ~ Adidas

Believe you CAN and you're halfway there! - Theodore Roosevelt

At 61 I am so focused on finding inner peace with myself. To do this I must work on the inside to the outside. I have a problem with consistency. I like variety and spontaneousness which makes it difficult for me to focus on training regimes. This is another challenge for me.

Trips do make a mess of our diets, don't they? I will be working on some pounds from my last trip to Colorado and plan on staying on track on a trip back to Ohio. We have to always be diligent....I can't get that through my thick head. You would think that as many times as I've lost and gained it back that I would learn this, but no.........
Hope all is well with you and that you had a wonderful trip to CA!
Love ya! emoticon

Hi Speedybabe,

It is always good to hear from you. I posted my comment on the "Mr. Romney" blog with trepidation. People have very strong feelings about politics. I try to confine my posts, comments or blogs to diet, exercise and well-being. I try to provide supportive comments to my fellow sparkers. I always consider how my written words could be interpreted.

But I have a hot-button when it comes to how things work, to include: mechanical things and government. And I loathe misinformation and deliberate distortion of statements, facts or positions.

I am glad you found what I had to say about our Republic worth reading. I have an odd educational background. I have a BSc in Mining Engineering with a minor in coal mining. My master's degree is in mathematics with an emphasis in the simulation of complex systems. My PhD work is in Systems Design and Economic Evaluation. My dissertation was a closed form proof that variability in any system is a sole predictor of efficiency.

Just FYI - the Jobless Rate is a dynamic number of the amount of time a theoretical average job seeker spends between jobs. The population of "job seekers" does not include the "chronically unemployed" and is a "trimmed" population. Even then, the number is an indicator, not a parameter. The Chronically unemployed are still job seekers but are considered to be unemployable.

Given the method of calculation, 7.8% is statistically indistinguishable from 8.2%. These figures by the Department of Labor (that ultimately work for the President) dramatically underestimate the number of people that want a job.

One of my favorite quotes is:

"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

Numbers tend to bolster a weak position.

Bruce
