Up for the Fight!

January 9, 2013
I have been MIA again. For the last year, I have been battling an open wound that is very stubborn and seems like it will never heal. I have had infections, C-diff, and several other issues that has caused me to be hospitalized. On October 26th, I had debridement and the placement of a wound vac. Since then, I have seen the surgeon every two weeks to see if it has filled in enough for a skin graft. I have not been able to work since October 26th and am getting very ...

I have not been able to work since October 26th and am getting very impatient with all of this. My mobility is very limited. I am praying that this time next month, I will be back at work and feeling better.

I am back to work! I am so thankful. I have also decided to go back on the IP plan. I can do this!

May 30, 2011
I was just diagnosed with Stage 3 High Grade Soft Tissue Sarcoma in my right leg. I will meet with my doctor this Wednesday to discuss surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. I have too much to live for to not fight this and WIN! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I know God will be with me through this and keep his loving arms around me.

I am going to keep working towards my goals...I will not give up because I have come to far to turn back now! I should be able to go back to the gym next week. I know that with God's help, I can make it through anything.
January 21, 2011
I have been going to the gym about 4 times a week and it is really helping me have more energy. I know I need to follow the IP protocol more closely. My wonderful husband supports me and is also going to the gym with me.
Have a blessed day!
Still on IP and loving it. It is so exciting and I have hope that I will succeed. I feel so much better and am getting off many of my prescription medicine. Loving it!
Added July 18, 2010:
I am on day 11 of the Ideal Protein Program. The first week I lost 8.50 lbs and 10 inches! I am excited about this and looking forward to learning more about it.
Original Post:
I am confident that I will stay focused and work towards a healthier me in 2010. I plan to exercise more and to make healthy food choices.
I am married to a wonderful man and have 3 sons and 1 daughter. We also have a nine year old granddaughter. We are now empty-nesters and I am trying to adjust. I really miss my kids. Our daughter works for a mortgage company in Manassas, VA. Our oldest son is a 4th grade teacher and high school basketball and baseball coach. Out middle son is a junior and majoring in civil engineering. Our youngest is a freshman and majoring in land surverying.
We have 1 black lab, 1 yorkie and 2 Siamese cats. I also have a horse.
I am an educator and love my job! I am also working on my doctorate in educational leadership.
I have always struggled with my weight and about 3 years ago I had an accident that changed my life. Since then, I have gained 40 pounds. I have let this become an excuse, and I am no longer going to allow this to affect my health.
With God's help and guidance, I (we) can do all things.

Thank you for adding me as a friend, I'm honored. I've added you this morning and look forward to getting to know you better as you progress on this journey. You are doing great! Nearing goal; I'd like to invite you to visit/join 50+ Maintainers. Great group, scan the thread "How Are You Doing Today". We are a very active group and supportive of each other. Maintenance is a different challenge and that support is important; none of us want to do it all again. Been there, done that! Keep doing what you're doing. Be well, Joy
