Start where you are. I keep reminding myself of this. I suppose I'm lucky in that when I tell people what my weight is, no one believes me. See, I have very muscular legs (I've been told I have dancer's legs on more than one occasion), and I think that's where a nice chunk of the weight is. I literally have no hips, no butt, although I kind of have a mushroom top over that.
There are many reasons I want to lose weight. First and foremost, I want to be healthier. I have 5 herniated disks, spinal stenosis, bone spurs on my spine...some weight off of that as well as some muscle tone would be of great help. I also have fibromyalgia and arthritis. Weight loss may not help that, but it certainly can't hurt. Then there's high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma...I feel like a time bomb waiting to happen.
I want to have more energy. I want to stop being depressed all the time. I want to be able to keep up with my 9 year old. All of these are worthy goals, and I have to work daily to keep them in mind.
