Brother is back home

Monday, February 04, 2013

Today my oldest brother got back home after being in the hospital with blood clots to the lungs. He's seems to be doing fine. Just a little tired. Won't be doing cardiac rehab since its not his heart. Plus insurance won't cover it but will on physical therapy. He wants the supervised therapy instead of going to a gym just in case something happens to him to where he needs to go to a hospital. He will be getting that set up tomorrow along with getting another blood test. His INR level was 1.93 when his doctor wanted it to be at a 2. But it was close enough. Not sure how long he's going to be off of work though. Never asked. But at least he didn't have to travel as far as dad did when dad had his heart surgeries. It's 9 miles from the hospital to home instead of 45 to 50 miles like my dad did.

Got another prayer shawl done. I'm doing another one now in a soft sage. I finished one in a pale green. I am giving that to a gal we go to church with. The one that I'm making now is for my stepcousin and his wife. I'm going to do another pale green one for my dad's oldest brother. The one I'm making now is the for the stepson to my dad's oldest brother.

Glad that he is better and will be starting PT. That will help open up his lungs and get him to breath better

Keep oldest brother in prayers

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Please keep my oldest brother in thoughts and prayers. Found out today that he's in the hospital with blood clots in his lungs. He's getting blood thinner through the IV as we speak. Dad wanted to go up to Minnesota but oldest brother told dad not too because its too cold up there. It's cold down here in west central Illinois. But we will go up if something bad happens to my oldest brother. I hope not.

It's cold down here. It didn't get out of the teens. It wa in the low 20s and slowly went down from there. It's below 0 by now. And we have cold sounding wind. Hate it.

My thoughts and prayers are with your brother, you and your family. I know how hard that is, I been through that myself it is a scary thing to have blood clots in your lung (PE-pulmonary embolism), they caught mine right in time before the clots got to my heart, mine started as DVT which then turned into PE b/c I was ignoring the signs for about a week. Now, I have filter so that if any of the present clots break, the filter will protect my heart. Since 2008, I have been dealing with blood cots and have been on blood thinners since then.

Wacky weather and long week

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

8:41am

The weather ahs been wacky from snow, ice, rain, warm, cold, and anything else we have been getting. At least last Thursday and Friday we didn't have bad weather. Dad had a doctor appointment in Peoria to get his heart checked out and his defibulator checked. BTW, everything is fin with that appointment. The next day we went back to Peoria for the garage here in town to get parts for one of the mechanics needed for his personal vehicle. Then we went to Moline to pick up the transmission we took up the week before. So you cn image how tired the both of us were after all of that.

I'm making some more prayer shawls. I have enough green yarn to make 4 shawls. 3 are in pale green and 1 in soft sage. But I'm going to give away 2 of the pale greens and the soft sage. One of the pale greens is going to give to a gal who we go to church with . She lost her dad about a month ago. The other pale green is for my dad's oldest brother who lost his wife (his 3rd) 2 weeks ago today. The soft sage prayer shawl is going to the stepson, wife, and daughter of my dad's oldest brotehr. I'm not sure who is going to get the 3rd pale green prayer shawl yet.

9:28pm

We went up to Sears in Galesburg to take a vehicle up to get an alignment job done to it. It was windy and snowing when we went up. The vehicle we took up doesn't handle the wind as well as our Escape but it has a lot more miles on it than our Escape. But we didn't get the 1 to 2 inches of snow that they were saying. Right now that wind is blowing like crazy. It sounds cold and nasty. I hope that it doesn't get too bad.

While we were waiting for the car to be aligned (got in about in an hour before the appointment because they had an cancellation so we got in sooner), my dad and I took a walk around the mall. He did just one lap (his knee can't take more than 1 lap around that mall) and I did 2 laps. About 40 minutes total for me. When I was walking, I decided to to into JC Penney's. I wanted to look at the baby stuff to see if they had anything cute to get for my grandniece. Well, I did and bought it. It was on sale for $6.00 when it was originally $12.00. I had a gift card that I got for my birthday that had $4.00 on it. So I paid for the rest with cash. It cost me only $3.00. It was $7.00 after tax ($0.49) and a donation to the YMCA ($0.51). It is a navy onsie with almost hot pink trim and says My Auntie Rocks with a guitar next to My. I told her mommy about it. It is a 12mth size. She maybe wearing it when she's older. She can't even fit into 6 to 9 mth size clothes. She can wear 6 mth size clothes. I got a picture of it and I'm going to send it to her.

Not looking forward in today

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Today is the funeral for my aunt who passed away on Wednesday. She didn't want a visitaiton. Just a graveside service. She is going to be buried at the same cemetary where my mom is at. The service is at 4pm. I doubt that I will be going. Been fighting headaches and if the wind is like it was this morning when I took the dog out, I'm not going. Besides, the minister who is doing the service was the same one that did a service for one of my dad's brothers back in 1985 and the service took 2 hours to do. The brother's name was mentioned once and that was it. The widow almost walked out of the service half way through. It's my uncle's (my dad's oldest brother and the husband to the aunt who passed away) minister. The minister is a nice guy but his funeral services are long. The aunt's son told the minister to make it short and sweet service, no long ones. Its about time someone said that to him.

I haven't gotten any more yarn to make the prayer shawls yet. It maybe Wednesday before I get any yarn. I hope so because Thursday we need to be in Peoria, IL, early because my dad has an appointment with his cardiologist in the morning. I need something to do while I'm waiting for dad to get done with his appointment.

Yesterday was a busy day. We went to Moline to drop off a transmission that needs to be rebuilt, went to Galesburg to return a part and pick up a part, and then to another town to pick up more parts. Even though I wasn't driving, I was tired. Didn't have much of a nap when we were coming home from all that running around. It was between Moline and Galesburg on the interstate when I had the nap. You couldn't blame me for falling asleep because I had a headache. I am fighting one now.

I'm sorry for the loss of your aunt, and I'm sure she would not want to make yourself sick. I'm prone to getting headaches when I'm out in the wind too, especially if it's cold.

Cold weather

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

6:54am

This cold weather is being a pain. I've been fighting headaches and join pain. Most of the joint pain has been in my arms, especially my writs. I broke the left wrist in March 1995 while learning how to roller skate. I've taken something for the pain.

I've gained 15 pounds from the holidays and from my T.O.M starting over the weekend. I went from 195 pounds to 210 pounds. But the last few days, I've lost 5 pounds. I'm at 205 pounds. I'm going to keep my weight tracker on here at 195 pounds because I know that I will get back down to that weight. I have another 25 pounds to get down to where the doctor wants me to be to get off of the blood pressure medicine. I have until March 28th to get that far down.

Please keep my dad's oldest brother in thoughts and prayers. His wife isn't doing too well. She's been in 2 hospitals in a month. At one hospital she had a quart of fluid taken off of her heart and lungs. Then she was transfered to another hospital to start dialysis. But a week ago this past Friday they took her off of dialysis and she had less than 2 weeks to live. I sent a text message to her daughter-in-law yesterday to see how everything was going. Looks like it could be anytime now she could pass away. She was in her upper 70s. I will let everyone know.

Still haven't gotten another cat yet. And the lady who blames me for abusing my cat (which I didn't) hasn't sent me anymore messages. I guess she either didn't turn me in or they told her that she doesn't have a case againt me. But I do want another cat.

8:18am

Well, I made a couple of prayer shawls for a couple of friends. Both in pale green and same patterns. One friend has her prayer shawl and I still have to give the other friend hers. Both friends lost a love one last year. The one that already has her prayer shawl lost her husband of almost 60 years a year ago next month. The other friend lost her daughter on September 27th to cancer. Her daughter is a year younger to the day than my mom. The daughter was an organ donor and her eyes were donated. I want to make 3 more prayer shawls. One to a gal we go to church with who lost her dad a couple of weeks ago and one for my dad's oldest brother and one for the brother's stepson and wife. In green because green is a symbol of healing.

Yesterday was a busy day. We went to a town 15 minutes south of here twice and to another town south of there within a 4 hour period. Today dad has a chiropractor appointment and we have to return some parts for the garage here in town.

3:14pm

Well, my dad's oldest brother lost his wife this morning at 8am. If she lasted until Friday, it would of been two weeks since she got off of dialysis. Found out through her daughter-in-law about 3 hours after she passed away. And just so happens its the daughter-in-law's birthday. Well my mom and my dad's mom passed away on a cousin of mine's (my dad's youngest brother's oldest daughter) birthday but 16 years apart. My dad's mom died in 1990 (the year my oldest brother and his wife got married in Minnesota) and my mom died in 2006).

I'm not liking this cold weather either, especially when there is wind with it, it just goes right through me when I have to be outside. And I can relate to pain issues and headaches being worse because of it.

I will keep your family in my prayers! And I hope you can get a kitty soon; I know I'd feel lost without mine.
