Insanity Time Again

Monday, February 25, 2013

It's been a bit of an up and down since my last blog entry. The holidays were not kind to my waist line, and stress at home has led to some bad habits. I've been hovering between 124-125lbs and my clothes are not fitting the way that I like. I just don't feel good about myself and my choices lately.

So, I'm kicking myself in the booty and jumpstarting my fitness for Spring. Here are my goals:

Insanity! Finish the program again.
Start weight 124.2
waist 27.5in
belly button 31in
hips 36in
right thigh 21.5in

Goal weight 119
waist 26in
belly button?
hips 35in
Thigh 20.5in

Here are my 1st Fit Test results:
Switch Kicks 100
Power Jacks 43
Power knees 81
Power Jumps 40
Globe Jumps 7
Suicides 18
Push Up Jacks 22
Knee to Elbows 64

I'm also hoping to incorporate a couple of 3 mile runs per week to start building back up for half marathon training in the Spring. I'm registered to run the Rock and Roll Half Marathon at Virginia Beach early in September.

Today is Day 3 of Insanity. Power Through!!

Woah, What Happened?

Sunday, September 02, 2012

Holy Crap! I stepped on the scale this morning and had one of those truly terrible wake-up calls. I've been noticing that my clothes haven't been fitting very well and I have some serious muffin top creeping back into my life, but I was not prepared for what was staring up at me first thing this morning....125lbs. I set a range for myself to maintain from 119-124 and have been able to keep myself within those parameters with a rare .2 variation on either end, but not in the past 1 1/2 years have I seen that number. I wasn't as devastated as I expected to be, it just kind of slapped me in the face and told me to get to work. I've definitely been slacking on the diet front and I had a major splurge day last Weds at the state fair which is probably accounting for some of that gain.

The plan...back down to 1200-1400 calories a day. Very limited sugar, very limited if any alcohol, small meals 5X per day including very nutrient dense foods. I can get back on track and I will get back to where I want to be.

The reason for the slap on the face is to take care of it NOW. You'll be fine if you do it now.

Detox is Complete

Friday, June 08, 2012

Yesterday was day 10, so I made it! It was a little close there last night when I was craving a glass of wine, but I stuck it out (with the small exception of a couple bites of my son's popcorn at the T-Ball game last night!).

This morning I weighed 120lbs. My stomach is less bloated, my clothes fit better, I feel calmer, and mostly I feel more in control of my food cravings and vices. I'm still having sleep difficulties, so I'm thinking that it wasn't the caffeine that was causing the disturbances, but I don't plan to go back to my 3-4 cup a day habit any time soon either.

For the rest of the month, I'm planning to eat within these guidelines for the majority of the time, and then to let myself enjoy the social gatherings that we've been invited to. In July, after we go on our big family vacation, I think I'll do another similar cleanse, possibly for 14 or 21 days.

A slip up and a success

Monday, June 04, 2012

Okay, so yesterday was day 6 and I had to avoid some temptations. I was successful at avoiding the coffee and cookies at church, didn't eat the Hershey's bar that I was given in thanks for teaching one of the Sunday school classes this year, ordered a salad for lunch (not sure if the dressing was clean, but figured it would be okay), and even avoided a whole table full of desserts at the annual church meeting! That's pretty successful! Now for the slip up...it's really not that big of a deal, but dinner tonight was a Teriyaki rice salad with snow peas, carrots and peanuts. I knew the sauce was going to have honey in it, which I've been avoiding along with sugar, but it was only 2tsp for 4 servings and it's a local honey so I was okay with it, BUT then I reread the bottle of Teriyaki sauce and discovered that it contains both sugar and wheat! I wasn't too thrilled, but it was a tasty salad and even the kids enjoyed it. So I'm shrugging it off and watching my sauces more carefully.

Headaches are completely gone. Digestive trouble is improving greatly. I think that the skin eruptions are going down (boo zits). Now if I could just sleep! I was up a little before 4am and could not get back to sleep, I went downstairs and finished my book and then dozed on the couch for a bit, but it wasn't enough sleep by a long shot! I managed to teach my Zumba class this morning, but I'm seriously dragging now. I may give in and have a second cup of green tea (I know I said that I was avoiding caffeine, but I've been allowing myself 1 cup of either green tea or kukicha tea each morning--much improved from my usual 2 to 3 cups of coffee).

Today is day 7, wow! I weighed in at 119lbs this morning! I'm a little surprised to see that number on the scale. I'm going to keep with the plan for 10 days and enjoy my dinner out with friends on Friday, which will be my first day off of the detox. I'm hoping to keep this eating plan on a daily basis with wiggle room for social obligations and birthdays that are coming up.
