Morning Exercise Making a Comeback?

Thursday, May 23, 2013

I just got finished with a great, sweaty elliptical session. I was reading a book with fairly short (4-5 page chapters) so I started on level 10 elliptical and each time I finished a chapter I would go down a level for the next chapter. Also between each chapter I would do 10 pushups. My HRM says it was a 28 minute / 281 calorie session. Not too shabby for 5:15 am. My baby is now starting to sleep later and later (this moring was 4:50 yay! I pretty much consider that sleeping thru the night - 830-450!) I know work is starting up in 3 weeks and I wont be able to feed her and snuggle up/go back to sleep with her until 7 like I've been doing. So I got up for a workout.

I really haven't done this first thing since my second trimester...it just became less and less of a priority - I always got my minutes in, but NOT early morning. So now that I did I remember how good it makes my day start off. Hopefully I can make it back into a habit - especially when I'm back to work as I Just got a promotion and never know if I'll need to devote additional evening time to work and my family - wouldnt want exercise to get boxed out!

Great job on the workout! I really enjoy morning workouts as well! Just finished my oatmeal and plan to get to it in just a minute! I use to wait and eat after my morning workout, but with nursing I get to light headed if I don't eat first...

Keep up the great work Tara, you really are amazing! BUT, remember how quickly the time goes and how quickly they grow up, so enjoy that snuggle time while you can!!

Hope you have a great day!

Getting Ambitious for June - ZWOW Challenge

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

I am starting to feel my body getting strong and fit again after the baby - it took a few weeks postpartum for hormones to even out but I feel I am there (regular cycle started back up which I have been told is the starting point for normalcy hehe). So I am working hard this month to get some strength back and the extra pounds off which is happening, slowly but surely.

June I am going to start back up with pushing myself further - a ZWOW challenge with my friend TRICIA4626 from work. Not sure how we are going to do it yet but I am thinking definitely a ZWOW a day... by random draw from Litealloy.com maybe? Or we could just do them in order... either way... those workouts KICK MY ASS!!! But I feel so great afterwards.

Good for you!!!! I wish I had the motivation to do those workouts...I enjoy then when I do them, but they seem to take too long to figure out, I wish they had DVD version available.

Go you! I might have to check into those ZWOW videos this summer. They look super hard, but if it were easy everyone would do it :)

New Start Pic - and My First Jog with Emerson

Thursday, May 16, 2013

I'm feeling pretty good about things today and this whole week. I seem to have turned a corner with the stuckness I was feeling previously. In fact last night I decided to see if Emerson is ready to go in the jogging stroller because I finally feel I can do a slow paced run without my organs falling out of my vajajay. Sweet!

So today was our first jog - I took it nice and slow, short and sweet. My only real goal was to go over 1/2 a mile and try to keep the pace at 11:00 mile or below.

I did do that... 1.21 miles at a 10:55 pace, so yeah! I even know I could have run longer but wanted to ease into it! My little running partner seemed to enjoy herself but ended up with hiccups lol. Here is the princess in her chariot... doesnt she seem so tiny?

And as I mentioned I started my true weight loss countdown on Monday May 13. So what would a fitness campaign be without starting pictures? I am only posting these to stay accountable... I actually screwed up and put 40 lbs to go but its actually 32. Phew!

Emerson looks very small in her stroller, is the stroller big or is she super tiny? I keep looking at the 0-3 month old clothes wondering if my little guy is actually going to fit in them.
Thanks for posting the pics, I think I'll do the same when I get going on my post-partum journey.
Hoping the runs feel better and better for you. Thanks for the inspiration :)

That is going to be a hilarious "before" picture of the babay in the stroller. Please hold on to it and do a comparison in a few months and at a year. I am sure she'll be spilling out of the stroller in a few years!

WOWZA (I'm Back)

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

I'm baaaaaack! You may be thinking, "But Tara, you never left! You have had a perfect attendance at Sparkpeople for the past 30 months? what do you mean you are back?"

Oh, I am back.

I have finally gotten into my GROOVE the past 3 days. I have been eating FANTASTIC foods. I have been doing PHENOMENAL workouts. I feel great. amazing. fantastic.

The scale is moving... in the direction I want it to. It will still take me quite sometime to get where I want to be but at least I am finally on the move!

To celebrate my last 2 amazing days I got a fresh pair of Nikes (my KSwiss Tubes have seen their day... they gave me heel blisters the other day!) I am all tooled up - got the fitbit pedometer for mothers day, use my HRM with every workout, new Ipad with great fitness resources, plus a sheer will and determination to succeed.

It also can't hurt that baby girl who is less than 6 weeks has been sleeping 7-8 hours at night... that is truly a BLESSING from GOD to have that in both of my babies... I can never thank You enough for giving me easy children!!!

YES! The old Tara is BACK!

OK, I'll pretend not to be super jealous about your sleeping baby! LOL! Of course you get that with formula too. I remember that from my oldest son, who I did not breastfeed. Seriously though, I'm super happy for you that you are getting your sleep! It makes a HUGE difference in how you feel and what you can do.
You're awesome, no way around that! Glad you're feeling so wonderful! Keep up the great work!! emoticon

New Game Plan

Friday, May 10, 2013

I have come to peace with the fact that I had a totally unrealistic expectation on how quickly I could lose my pregnancy weight. Instead of planning to be back to my pre-baby size (and less) by the middle of this summer, in 3 months, I've extended it to February when I'll be turning 30. This allows me to take it at a slow and manageable pace and I am hoping will not burn me out and frustrate me when things don't happen extremely quickly. So I've set my weight expectations for each month and I hope it is something I can stick to. Each month I will revisit where I am and set individual goals for that month based on my progress.

Here it is...

Game Plan

Reach 138 lbs by February 1, 2014

Start Date – May 13, 2013
Weight – 180 lbs (or less - this is worst case scenario)

Goals:
May – Lose 3 pounds – 177
June – Lose 4.7 pounds – 172.3
July – Lose 4.7 pounds – 167.6
August – Lose 4.7 pounds – 162.9
September – Lose 4.7 pounds – 158.2
October – Lose 4.7 pounds – 153.5
November – Lose 4.7 pounds – 148.8
December – Lose 4.7 pounds – 144.1
January – Lose 6.1 pounds – 138.0

May – 10,000 steps per day, some type of exercise each day, 5-9 freggies, 8+ glasses water, eat in range 4x per week, limit of one meal out each day of the weekend
