Little Victories and Big Frustrations

Monday, May 07, 2012

So this morning started pretty bad. I couldn't get my heart rate above 65% of MHR when I was doing cardio, so I gave up after 30 minutes and did my chest and back exercises. When I did some research and found out that usually in the morning, one's heart rate can be up to 10 BPM slower than later in the day, I felt a bit vindicated.

So when I got home from work, I did another 30 minutes of cardio and 3.5 minutes of the Pilates Abs video (which is better than the first time I did it...only made it through 2 minutes last time!). When I did my stretching after cardio, I couldn't believe it....I COULD TOUCH MY TOES! I have NEVER been able to do that before! It feels amazing that I've become that flexible over the past 4 months!

And yes, in the afternoon, I was able to keep my heart rate in the range I wanted it to be. Will have to re-think my exercise plan a bit.

Interesting bit of information there. I wish I could blame morning workouts on my lower MHR some days, but I know it isn't that. But I will keep track of if it's a morning or afternoon workout from now on.
