Hello June!

Monday, June 04, 2012

Everyone else is busy setting goals and it is a new month so hey, here it goes.

I have been frustrated lately, mostly at myself. I know what I need to do to be successful, yet somehow I keep not doing it. And then I'm upset with myself, do something else self defeating, etc. It's a spiral and for me it's time to pull out of the tailspin. So June, here is my plan for you:

emoticonMake a workout plan and stick to it. I have been seriously slacking in the weight training department as well as not running with enough regularity. So I am putting specific exercise plans in my calendar for each day. At least 2 days will include weight training each week and 2 will include running trails. If the weather becomes and issue I will head inside for a plan B day.

emoticon Fridge-ventory weekly. Monday will be the day I clean out the fridge, take stock of what is there and then plan a shopping list and go fill it. Need to make sure to include lots of fruits and veggies!

emoticonLimit beer/wine to weekends and have lots of iced tea and lemonade on hand for weekday.

emoticonTracking all the food all the time. Even if it wasn't a good day at least I'll have a record of it. Also tracking my stress and mood and the other features on the Spark site because that really has a lot to do with when I do and don't eat well.

emoticonMore walking in my day. Instead of the 5 minute bus ride to work from the parking lot I'm going to make the extra time in the morning to walk to work. This means I need to plan ahead to have 'walking shoes' on and bag my work shoes! Whenever I can I am also going to go for some lunch time walks. Also for smaller store trips I will walk to the store when I can (not for the stock-up trips).

emoticonPlay a little dress up! I've been slipping back in to my frumpy ways lately and it shows in my attitude, how I carry myself and how I treat myself. Tonight I'm going to put together at least 2 outfits that make me feel good and then wear them in the next week. If it doesn 't make me feel good or fit well it's going into the donation bag!

emoticonRe-institute bedtime routine! I need to take better care of my teeth and skin.

emoticonSunscreen daily. I need to find a good daily sunscreen lotion and use that. I don't like the sticky feeling of a lot of sunscreens so I tend to not wear them and then end up burned.

Wish me luck and as always I welcome your advice and input.

Those are great goals! I like how you're going to have a Plan B for your exercise when the weather doesn't cooperate - otherwise it's too easy to just skip a workout. I like your plan to walk to work, too. I wish I could do that, but I work twenty miles from home. :-)

I think your goals are very doable. I've been in the same shoes you have recently. I know what to do, I just can't make myself do it consistently. Good luck to us both!

I'm a BIG fan of skincare. My current favorite sunscreen (and I'm VERY picky) is Anthelios 60 but you might not need the intense protection I need and it is comparatively expensive. I know lots of folks who really like Neutrogena Dry Touch.
