Then and Now - My Sass Challenge

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

I began the Sass challenge at 212 lbs. Today I am at 206 and flirting with 205. emoticon I had gained 20 lbs during the winter with medication issues and health issues that were keeping me sidelined. I know it would continue to be difficult for me to exercise without pain so I began to work on what I knew had helped before. I went back to the South Beach lifestyle and because of the added benefits of the Mediterranean style of eating I combined the two and finally the scale started going down. emoticon
As I was finally making some progress I began having more health issues and it was decided that I would need vein procedures for both legs. Laser for the left and phlebectomy for the right. emoticon
The procedures were a little rougher on me that we thought and I spent about 4 weeks with limited mobility, Just enough to go to work and them come home and elevate my legs for the rest of the night. About 10 days ago I could finally walk with much less pain in my legs than I have had in many years. Although I still have OA my legs do not have that heavy feel as if they weighed a ton each. emoticon
As we end this challenge and begin the new Rock It challenge I am feeling emoticon. I have a personal triathlon going for myself. Today was day 10 of Hall Walking. I am at 20 minutes of slow walking. My lungs and heart are feeling much less strain and my legs are not swelling. I am also on day 6 of adding a slow ride on my recumbent bike and a Chair Dancing DVD to my workout. I do a Sit Down and Tone DVD on alternate days with a Chair Dancing DVD. I am so excited about my progress that I am giving myself a gift of anew DVD to add to my set.
I do have more vein procedures coming but plan to keep up my triathlon until I have to take a few days off and enjoy this great new ability to move and stretch.

Nola, life has brought you health issues like most of us older ladies. But, I am so proud of how positive you are. It's no wonder you found a new job so quickly as you'd be a pleasure to work with. I am so impressed with all the exercise you do! You are doing the hard work and I am glad your scale is also happy with you. I am so sorry to read on your feed that the testing is making you sick with the high heat you've been having I am not that surprised but sure hope and pray you'll feel better really soon. Keep the Faith Dear Friend. I really admire your spunk in spite of everything you've been through.

Love,

JillR>

Stay cool, my friend, and keep on keepin' on.
