Weighed in this morning for the penultimate Starfish team weigh-in for the 5% challenge. I am down 10 pounds from when we started on June 23! 10lb in 7 weeks; I am amazed! My stress levels were much lower in July and I have been much more consistent with exercise. I am still struggling to eat in my calorie range, and have settled lately for a goal of trying to reach 1000 calories in a day. The lowest was around 550 on Monday. Fear that it will come back on once I start eating more regularly, but hopefully not if I can stay consistent with exercise!
The first two days of school went pretty well. The kids were great, just a few issues carried over from last year. Principal has asked me to document these issues and she is watching as well. Hopefully, the problem can be remedied quickly! Working on new lesson plans built around the common core. When you teach all subjects and have to modify so significantly, it is really a struggle to demonstrate how the standards are being met. All our old textbooks (that I was having to significantly adapt and modify anyway) are useless, but there isn't money for new ones...
This week will be focused on assessing and determining levels and abilities so I can create individual and small group activities that fit my students' needs. This year will include lots of functional skills instruction!
I started 2 challenges of my own recently: a 30 day abs/core challenge and a 100 day challenge.
Goal 1: return to regular, daily exercise, focusing on toning
~ I have been to the Y 4 mornings this week, even getting to the cycle class the first day of school, just did my abs work before class and had to miss the strength session afterwords. Also got in walks some evenings, when I wasn't taking care of paperwork for soccer or doing things for school!
Goal 2: drink 10+ 8oz glasses of water each day
I have done well with this one, getting at least 15 glasses per day, taking water with me in my rolling cooler
Goal 3: continue healthy eating, and improve on what isn't working.
I have packed my lunch and either eaten breakfast at home or packed it to take with me. I haven't limited snacks to before 7:30 because usually, I am nowhere near calorie range at that time, so I need a snack! I have been eating more fruits than veggies, but still plenty of both.
Goal 4: In bed by 10:00pm, up at 5:00am.
well, I've been getting up in the morning, but I am only occasionally making it to bed by 10pm.
Goal 5: spend more time with the kids
- They have been going with soccer 4 nights this week, plus open house for them and me. With it being their last few days off before school started Thursday, they wanted to spend more time with their friends.
