The world is a large and varied place. The part I live and interact with is my personal kingdom. A big part of my kingdom I have "no" control over and yet another big part I "do" have control over. So the "BIG" question for me is to understand which is which. The reality of the world may wish to impose itself upon me, however I may choose to reject a lot of that in my own kingdom ... or not. to me. Hmmm ... how about you?

Today my kingdom has changed its location. I am staying with my dementia momma at the beach for a few days. Its something we have done every year for more than just a few years. She looks forward to it every year and I usually do as well. I have borrowed a computer to use while we are here and I'm discovering it has a few flaws. lol At least one of the letters doest work and the enter button doesnt either. Ahhh and neither do some of the unctuation marks. This should make for interesting writing and reading. lol Maybe the spell check will fix some of it. lol When we checked in yesterday momma was like a little kid at the counter with the check in attendant. She wanted to relive all the years she has been coming here. She knows her memories are going and wants to share all what she can remember with everyone. lol Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and ........... She keep forgetting she told you. The desk attendant is new and has the atience of to a saint. She made momma feel wonderful and never once gave any indication of annoyance that so many seem to do readily. Momma told her she had forgotten her toothbrush and wed need to go out and get one (repeatedly). When we got the condo room (time share apartment) and started utting things away I was reminded that we needed to go get momma a toothbrush ... again and again and ........ lol We decided we would go out for dinner and then get her toothbrush on the way back. There is one restaurant that she loves here that we go to once every year ( a bit ricey but so very good). We headed out to eat and about every other block I was reminded of the toothbrush. At the restaurant we dined with great enjoyment and watched the boats coming and going in the harbor and even a rain storm come through. While we were there momma shared with the doorman, the hostess, the manager, the water attendant and the waiter her wonderful memories of the restaurant ... and about her toothbrush. lol They were all so very gracious and never once indicated she had repeated herself. It made me enjoy the restaurant and the evening even more. After the meal and upon leaving we enjoyed the sunset and a rainbow as we walked to the car. Of course momma reminded me about the toothbrush a few times before we got to the car (about 20 feet away) and then again every other block until we got to the drug store. lol When we ulled into the drug store arking lot she asked me why we stoing there. I said I thought we might stretch our legs and look to see if there was anything we might want before going back to the condo. Her rely was .. That's good because I think I need to get a toothbrush. After we returned to the condo momma set her toothbrush out on the bathroom counter and we visited and layed some cards before getting ready for bed. She made comment about how glad she was to have gotten a toothbrush (again ... etc.). Later we got ready for bed and she sent some time bathing and grooming before coming to bed. When we said our good nights she thanked me for the dinner and the infamous toothbrush. This morning I went into the bathroom she had used (there are two and we had used both the night before) and found her toothbrush sitting on the counter ... in its sealed ackage waiting to be oedned. lol Hmmm ... I so love my momma and feel blessed to still have her with me. I intend to find the joy in and with her as long as I am able. And I am certain she will kee reminding me of it ... again and again and again ... lol. Oh, and did I tell you ... I love my momma I am so glad she and I are in my kingdom together. I am so grateful for the those we have encountered while we are here and their wonderful and endearing kindness while inter acting with us. God has truly blessed me!

I am exploring my kingdom of relationships with friends, the world around me and my inner self. Life is an adventure. It is not a dress rehearsal and I want to learn something new about myself and my surroundings. I invite you to do the same.
Stay safe, find the joy in your day and keep smiling sunshine.
