Lately I have been trying to take the stairs more a work. Other things I try to do is focus on the muscle I am using when I do tasks around the house and yard. emoticon

Good Foods Front and Center

I have been trying to keep good foods on my desk waiting for me throughout the day. Everyone else has candy bowls, but I am trying to stick with my pieces of apple or banana.

Tracking exercise without a computer

Sometimes a computer or internet is readily available. Create your routine and print out a checklist. Once printed laminate the paper to keep it fresh looking. Now you can use an erasable marker to check off your exercises during the day to add later. Great for when your on the go!

Get Rid of Trigger Foods, Pronto!

Make sure that you do not keep 'trigger foods' (foods that you can't stop eating once you start, usually due to some emotional upheaval). I used to allow myself graham crackers as a healthy snack (portion control). BUT, I found I would overeat them when depressed or upset... so I stopped buying them immediately. I may bring them back if I can gain control over myself.

If it has been a bad day, create a healthy plan for the rest of the day, now..Don't wait

It's easy to let the whole day slide if part of the day's been bad. If you've had a bad spell, get up and figure out all the healthy actions you're going to take the rest of the day and put the bad part of the day behind you. emoticon

Quinoa Helps Weight Loss...Gluten Free too!

Quinoa is loaded with energy vitamins, high in fiber and protein and Quinoa is relatively low on the glycemic index and is a complex carb, It should help with having fewer cravings for sugary foods.

Substitute quinoa in dishes that call for pasta or rice and it can be eaten as a cereal. Mix it with strawberries and yogurt for a filling desert. It is also gluten free.

pumpkin yogurt

I love Greek yogurt but can't get used to eating the plain variety. Recently while in the Amish Country in Pennsylvania I bought something called pumpkin butter (it doesn't contain butter -- it's more like a pumpkin pie filling) I add a tablespoon of this to my plain Greek yogurt and it's delicious. And the calorie count is no higher than if I were to eat the vanilla flavor. Sometimes I add a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Apple Snack

Slice an apple. Sprinkle some cinnamon. Microwave a minute or until cooked. Add a dollop of frozen Greek plain yogurt. Not a pie, but a neat snack.

The phytonutrients in apples can help you regulate your blood
sugar, slow down digestion and help keep you full.

Mother always said an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
