When I want to release stress I find that sitting down for a hour a day and cross stitching really helps me. I like to do this in the evening and then it also gets me ready for sleep! Set a Goal and Reward with Reading If you like to read, when you meet a fitness goal, get a subscription to your favorite fitness or sports magazine for extra motivation. You can find inexpensive subscriptions on discount sites online. Some to check out are Fitness, Health, Runner's World, etc. Just whatever you like to do! Mini challenges help me stay motivated. Instead of thinking "I will be consuming x amount of calories until I reach goal" I now break my goal down per week and tell myself I will consume x amount of calories and burn x amount at the gym this week. Breaking it down into a 7 day challenge makes it more manageable in my opion! Any day that I just don't feel like moving, I start talking to my husband about the latest fitness or nutrition news I read about. The more we talk the more I want to get off my butt and start moving. Every time I need to get motivated I take myself to the gym, and my endorphins kick in and the sweat is refreshing. There you have it I'm good to go for the rest of the day!!!!! When I feel I can't exercise anymore but I know I can. I say to myself "Unless you are going to faint, puke, or die. KEEP MOVING!" It is one of my favorite Jillian Michael's quotes. I have it posted on my treadmill. I love sharing a goal with a friend so we can give each other a boost on tough days. I'm currently training for a half marathon with a good friend and we text each other about it all the time. It's awesome motivation!
My husband likes to buy me clothes when he travels. His idea of my size and my actual size USED to be a lot smaller. SO I hang up a piece that I really like in my closet. So every time I get dressed I see it. I have done that 2-3 times now....and I am WEARING those pieces! I also print out encouraging signs and says and tape them on the mirror in the bathroom. I can see them every morning as I am getting ready for work. It helps me remember I am important and worth it! When motivation fails discipline steps in to take it's place. Keep a journal, keep a focus. You are not going to wake up every day cheery and ready to go. We are human,we get cranky. Keep a regimen, keep a routine, keep a journal. Celebrations will come soon and the motivation will return.
