I find that omitting any one food group or "bad" food sets me up for failure. Limit my sugar? I'll be dying for candy, cookies and sweets. Fat? I'll be dreaming about bacon and burgers. The secret for me is finding BALANCE. At each meal, I try to make sure I eat a healthy carb, a lean protein and a healthy fat. The comination helps kick cravings AND makes me feel fuller longer than JUST focusing on one "cure-all" ingredient, like fiber.

Deprivation = obsession (at least for me). I love ice cream, so instead of cutting it out completely and then gorging on it unnecessarily, I keep light versions in the house and measure every scoop. I also like to try light dessert recipes from SP. I'll eat nachos with my kids (make them at home with low fat vegetarian refried beans and very little cheese) and still stay within my calorie ranges. It can really work in moderation and BALANCE!

Don't skimp on sleep by trying to add more events to the days. It's a stressor & gets everying out of balance. and Don't repeatedly hit the snooze button, either go to sleep earlier or take a nap. Don't let the snooze button become a habit that needs broken.

Lifestyle balance is just like just like balancing on one leg - you have to constantly make small adjustments to compensate for a shift in the balance. These adjustments are not the correcting of mistakes, rather they are needed in order to keep balancing and not fall over!

You don't have to be perfect on any given day/week/month. If you went over your calorie range today, just know that you should stay in the low end tomorrow. If you missed a workout on your birthday, then do an extra one next week. It's all about achieving that balance so you don't fall down!
